Frequently Asked Questions
When does the course start and finish?
You'll first receive a confirmation, then you'll receive access to the full course! You can do one module a week or go at your own pace, it's all up to you. Each week's module contains the essay topic, cheerleading, question prompts and coursework, all to level up your recovery and spiritual growth. If you're doing course support, you can email me as soon as you sign up.
How long do I have access to the course?
You have unlimited access to this course after you receive it for as long as you like, forever. If you drop off or get too busy, you can come back to it anytime you're ready.
What is the refund policy?
You may request a refund, minus a non-refundable deposit of $40, by emailing the request to
[email protected] within three days after purchase. Since email courses can't be returned, there are no refunds after Week 2 is sent, but if there is a medical emergency (including detox or rehab) and you have purchased the one on one mentoring, please contact me when you're better. We can resume at a mutually agreed upon later date, with no additional fee. Your health and safety comes first, always.
Do I have to stop drinking or have a certain amount of sober time to sign up?
No. Honestly, I had a lot of personal growth as I was struggling with my own starts and stops. It was all progress. I place no judgement on anyone's winding path.
No one can make or help anyone get and stay sober with a 100% success rate, not loved ones, not 12 step, not rehab, not any other course. You have to want it for yourself. It's not a requirement to be alcohol free to take this course, but it's gently suggested that you will probably get the most out of it if you are sober or can cut back to a moderate amount.
Please seek medical help if you are in danger or need a medical detox. I am not a doctor, a medical professional, a therapist or a psychiatrist and I can't be the judge of that, nor can I promise this course will get you sober. Again, your health and safety is priority 1, sweet pea, so please take care of your precious self.
We (I) retain the right to refuse service without refund to anyone who is abusive after one warning, as I'm sure you understand. Cursing and ranting about your life is more than fine, of course, but my own personal boundaries must be respected, as well. I couldn't teach you about boundaries if I can't set my own!
Can I take this course if I'm in another recovery program?
Yes, this can be a stand alone course or be used as a supplement to recovery meetings and/or therapy work. RecovHer is not officially affiliated with any other group, but there is no conflict, in my opinion. This is not 12 Step sponsorship. The lessons in this course are things I needed to learn outside of traditional recovery meetings to find true freedom.
Is this for women only?
No, men are welcome.
Is this only for recovery from alcohol?
No, but since my primary addiction was alcohol abuse (with co-occurring disordered eating), the language I use often focuses on that. But the lessons in this course can absolutely be applied to pretty much any addiction or unhealthy habit. I believe all addiction has the same root causes and so the inner work is the same. In terms of 1:1 peer support, I am also recovering from many other things, and can discuss and give my advice on:
1.) Being a Child of Divorce.
2.) Suicide of a loved one.
3.) Sexual Harassment/Other Sexual Misconduct.
4.) Endometriosis and Ovarian Cysts.
5.) Cancer in the family:
6.) Disconnection from family.
7.) Bullying.
8.) Anxiety and Social Anxiety.
9.) Eating Disorders (Binging and Purging).
10.) Depression.
11.) A Child with serious health problems/special needs.
12.) Traumas and PTSD.
13.) Financial and career problems.
14.) Body Dysmorphia.
15.) Low self esteem/self worth.
16.) Marital Problems.
18.) Death of beloved friends.
18.) Pre-eclampsia and Postpartum “baby blues.”
19.) Unexpected Life Crisis.
20.) Personal Betrayals.
And more. So you can see, we can cover a variety of topics and more in 1:1 email peer support. Again, I'm not a doctor, so If something is beyond my scope of knowledge or my wheelhouse, I always recommend you see a professional.
What recovery philosophy is this based in?
I've created my own program, based on my own collective life experience and personal healing, with decades of personal development and cognitive and spiritual study, over 10 years on my own recovery road, combined with therapy and over 7 years in 12 step meetings. Those meetings are not in any way required to take this course. I have been inspired by many teachers, writers and philosophers, as well as Buddhist ideas. My opinion is that no clinical degree can match the actual experience of 30 plus years of addiction and recovery from the inside the belly of the beast. There is currently no nationally recognized recovery mentoring license or certification, to my knowledge, so I believe it's about the teacher you're drawn to.
When can I email you for 1:1 support?
You can email me any time, every day, if you like! I will usually get back to you within 24 hours, Monday through Friday, between the normal business hours of 9am and 5pm Pacific Time, with weekends off for my family. Some emails received later on Friday may be replied to on Monday, depending on the volume of emails received. I'll also give you suggestions for additional outside support to get you through the weekend, if you need to reach out. I found that even sending an email or text to a sober support person, group or friend helped prevent me from drinking. I never relapsed when I reached out, which is part of the benefit of the 1:1 email support.
Can I add email support later?
Yes, possibly, but space is limited and periods may be closed when it fills up. Just email me at
[email protected] and let me know, I can make that available to you if my roster is not full at that time. The 1:1 option may not be available in the future, so act fast if you want the extra accountability and one on one love.
